Scholastic announced on Thursday that a new “Hunger Games” book by Suzanne Collins will publish in March 18, 2025. The book, “Sunrise on the Reaping,” will also be adapted into a film, set to be released in 2026.
Sunrise On The Reaping is set 40 years after Collins' 2019 novel, The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, which explores President Coriolanus Snow's origin story. Adapted into a film in 2023 starring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler, the movie follows a young Coriolanus Snow before his rise to infamy as Panem's leader.
Like the forthcoming novel, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of the “Hunger Games” saga (anchored by thee Katniss Everdeen).
“Sunrise on the Reaping” will also be adapted into a film, set to be released on Nov. 20, 2026, and produced by Lionsgate, the studio behind the film adaptations of Ms. Collins's “Hunger Games” books.
