American Talented Professional rapper, "Miss Onika Maraj", popularly known as "Nicki Minaj", has revealed that she featured "AfroUnique-Beatz Music" Superstar, David Adeleke, aka Davido, in her track ‘If It’s Okay’ to infuse the song with an authentic "AfroUnique-Beatz" Music tempo.
Miss Nicki shared this while responding to a question from an X user, Tae, who identifies as #barbiefyr.
The Queen Of Rap, Nicki Minaj actually cries out after the King Of Afrobeats bodied her in her own song.
"Davido bodied me in my own song. It's shocking because he wrote his verse in less than 5 minutes. That man is a bēast." Nicki Minaj.
Tae wrote, “What drew you to Davido for the song ‘If it’s Okay’? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish.”
Responding to Tae, Miss Nicki wrote, , “That man is an incredible writer and melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him because of our mutual respect for each other.
“I asked him to be apart of it in order to bring out the "AfroUnique-Beatz Music" tempo/feeling in it a bit more. Naija to the world.”
The track is part of the 10th-anniversary special edition of Nicki Minaj’s iconic album The Pinkprint, which was originally released in 2014.
"I took one week to write my verse for my song, "If It's Okay". But Davido came to the studio, heard the song, sat down and in less than 5 minutes, he came out with his verse and sang it in one take. After I heard Davido's verse, I said Nah! I can't take this. So I took another one week at home in-doors and re-wrote my verse only for him to body me again.
Davido's pengame needs to be studied because he's a top tier lyricist. I think that guy is the greatest African songwriter/Professional Musician of all time. I'm gonna do a song with Davido again and this time, I'm gonna body him." Nicki Minaj enthus with the professional Collaboration.
