Miss Pretty Camila Cabello is hurrying an unworthy lover on his way in her new song “GODSPEED,” off C, Xoxo – Magic City Version. She’s a woman who’s reached her limit in a relationship and just can’t hold in all she feels anymore.
“I don’t wanna be at this party anymore / I don’t think your jokes sound funny anymore / All these shoes I can’t dance in, what for? / I’ma let this out barefoot on the floor,” she sings in the first verse, detailing the moment she finally loses her cool and decides to put her feelings out there. In the song, it’s like she’s releasing some pent-up emotions and is past caring how people react to it.
Apart from her dreamy vocals, she uses haunting synths and glitchy effects on the song, continuing the new style she launched with her latest album, C, Xoxo, which many have compared to Charli XCX’s style of music.
Sharing on social media, Pretty Cabello told fans that “GODSPEED” was the first song she wrote for the new record, despite it not making the main album cut. However, the “Havana” hitmaker insisted that the four additional songs are “a crucial part the soul of this album. I can finally exhale completely now that they’re out.”
The accompanying music video for “GODSPEED” sees Cabello floating out in the waters.
