There are absolutely natural and artificial ecosystems comparising both aquatic (water) and terrestrial(Land) types of habitat. The natural ecosystems include fresh water, marine, estuarine, lake, main forest, savanna and desert.

The artificial ecosystems include farmland, man-made lakes and roads.
Aquatic Ecosystemsmay be either fresh water or marine(salt water), it is a salt free watery environment eg. a pond, lake stream or river.some organsms live on the water surface.Among these are microscopic algae such as diatoms ad blue green bacteria.they form phytoplankton of the pond.

Marine Ecosystems:Marine ecosystems are made up of the seas occeans lagoons and estuaries.these habitats contain salty water and interridal zone at the seashore is a marine habitat.

Estuaries are Coastal ecosytems;Where seas water and fresh water meet. fresh water comes from rivers and streams and runs off from the land when it rains.

Terrestrial ecosystems;habitat vary according to the types of vegetation in forest.

Artificial Ecosystems;Human activities such as farming, digging and road construction may adversely alter the ecosystem.
