Elon Musk saw the opportunity in Tesla and invested about $6 million dollars. Fast forward to 2024, Tesla is now worth Billions, while Martin and Marc who were the founders have both lost their positions in Tesla.
Here's the lesson:
Tesla Founders, Martin and Marc are ENTREPRENEURS whose business was at the point of bankruptcy.They had a great idea and worked for 5 years to build that idea into a business. But they didn't have the money to invest in that idea.
Another Entrepreneur with the mind of an investor saw a bigger picture. His name is Elon Musk. Today, Elon Musk, with an initial investment of about 6 million dollars controls Tesla and has become one of the world's most influential man.
My take; life sometimes can be very complicated!
Martin and Marc had two options. Either find an investor or watch the firm go into total bankruptcy. Selling for 6 million dollars and retaining minimal stake that is now valued at $230 million was actually good business for both Co-Founders. They actually saved the big picture.
