“Bernard Arnault is my new Drake,” said Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, during a speech at his Yzy fashion show in Paris yesterday.

With that statement, which indicated a sense of competition with the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton chief executive, the musician and designer made clear his continuing ambitions in fashion. After months of needling his current fashion partners Gap and Adidas over various issues with his collaborations, Ye asserted independence on Monday. (In September, it was announced that Ye’s work with Gap came to an end. His 10-year contract with Adidas runs through 2026.)
