William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was actually born in stratford on-Avon, Warwickshire, England. Although much of his early life remains sketchy,it is known that he moved to london cambridge 1589 to earn his way as an actor and playwright.he later joined an acting company known as the lord chamberlain's men in 1594, a decision that finally enabled him to share in the financial success of his plays.
Only eighteen pf his thirty-seven plays were published during his lifetime, and these were usually sold directly to theater companies and printed in quartos, or single-play editions,without his approval.Love's labour's lost, first performed in 1594, is regarded as one of shakespear's earliest works in the canon of his thirty-seven plays.
Bearing in mind that there is no entry found for the play inthe stationers' register , critics and scholars suspect that the first edition of the work was a bad quarto edition that was lost, and has since been superseded by the first quarto of 1598.
It is generally acknowledged among shakespearean scholars that love's labour's lost is probably shakepeare's first comedy. and as such, is often treated as an experienced experimental piece in his development as a dramatist.
