WWE WRESTLEMANIA "40" 2024 SUMMARY UPDATE:

.The Rock's return to the WWE ring headlines "WrestleMania 40" Night 1 on Saturday inside Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Rock's power within WWE helped he and Roman Reigns defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of Night 1. The Final Boss looked in good condition throughout the match, his first extensive in-ring action since 2013.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins are out first, followed by The Final Boss in quite the entrance. The Rock walks to the ring with the People's Champion belt given to him by Muhammad Ali's widow on Friday at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Finally, Roman Reigns entered in to the ring with new HOFer Paul Heyman.

After a lengthy introduction, Rollins and Reigns will begin the match. A lot of headlocks and holds before Rhodes enters. The pace quickens a little bit, but not much. About eight minutes in, Rollins tags in as does, for the first time in the match, Rock. After a Rock clothesline, he asks Rhodes to Just Bring It. Rhodes tags into the match with the pace still slowed down.

Rhodes stomps Rock and tags in Rollins for a double team. Reigns tries to interject but is knocked down. Now the match has turned into the brawl one could have hoped for. 

Reigns now has the upper hand on Rhodes up the entranceway while Rock and Rollins battle on the floor. Rock threatens the referee with termination if he counts anyone out, and referee Chad Patton obliges.Rock pummels Rollins with a trash can as they are now on the floor amongst the fans. Rhodes gives Reigns a suplex in front of the set up the entranceway.

Back in the ring, Rock uses the official and launches Rollins to the outside. Rollins favors his left knee, and Rock now works on Rollins' left leg. No need to remind Rollins of his World Heavyweight Championship match on Sunday.

Rollins and Reigns are now the legal men in the ring, I suppose. Reigns continues to work on Rollins' leg. Reigns and Rock now work together outside the ring to bounce Rollins off the ring steps. After a few more minutes of cutting Rollins off from the corner to make a tag, Rollins counters a Superman Punch attempt with a neckbreaker.

Any Rollins momentum is stymied by a blatant low-blow by Rock, who has now tagged in. Rock continues to threaten the official which had most of the attention swifted to them and then later Rhodes gives back-to-back Cross; Rhodes to Reigns, but Rock hits Rhodes with the belt before he can deliver a third.

Rock is now the legal man and gives Rhodes the Rock Bottom and the Bloodline version of the People's Elbow. 1, 2, 3.

"The Legendary Rock and the Fearless Roman Reigns Wins" to entertain "WWE Lovers" as they also cheer them up on Saturday night inside Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
